Dr. Isler works with school districts to help meet their needs in the following areas:
- Screening for dyslexia as required by law.
- Assessment of subtypes of reading disorders and determination of specific areas of reading weakness through use of state-of the art tools and techniques in neurocognition.
- School neuropsychological evaluations to ascertain areas of student strengths and weaknesses. Specific areas of assessment include executive functioning, attention and working memory along with processing speed, visual-spatial abilities and long-term memory. Basic sensorimotor functioning is also conducted (not usually performed in typical neuropsychological batteries).
- Evaluation of emotional and behavioral challenges through observations, and multi-source/multimodal functional behavior assessments to determine behavior intervention plans.
- Determination of specific types of learning, attentional, emotional and behavioral problems to help decide explicit research-based interventions.
- Detailed and comprehensive recommendations for school and home to address all weaknesses in student’s profile.
- Clear communication of findings to parents, teachers, administrators and other stakeholders at IEP, Child Study Team and administrative meetings.
- Consultation with teachers regarding academically and behaviorally challenging students, and classroom management of them.
- Complementary workshops and presentations for teachers, parents and administrators on various relevant topics of interest.
- Research-based cognitive remediation training in areas of specified weaknesses which result in measurable improvements in neurocognitive abilities, and underlying reading and math disorders. Measurable improvements in reading and math can usually be evident by three months.
